About Marrickville Local Government Area

Marrickville is a local government area located in the inner west region of Sydney. Marrickville is a vibrant, multicultural part of a Sydney that incorporates suburbs; Tempe, St Peters, Sydenham, South Newtown, Marrickville, Dulwich Hill, Stanmore, Lewisham, Enmore and parts of Camperdown. It has a population of over 75,000 and is 17 kmĀ².

Research suggests that the Marrickville local government area has been occupied for at least 7,000 years. The area was originally occupied by the Cadigal clan of the Darug people.
